Released in March 2021 to commemorate the Chinese New Year, Drew Estate’s Liga Privada Unico Serie Year of the Ox has been honored as the No. 22 cigar in Cigar Journal’s Top 25 Cigars of 2022 List.
Translated into English, “Unico Serie” means “unique series.” Each of the vitolas that define the Liga Privada Unico Serie are special, one-of-a-kind cigars that arose from Drew Estate’s constant quest for producing oddities and mind-blowing unique smoking experiences.
Crafted at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Estelí, Nicaragua, Liga Privada Unico Serie Year of the Ox was built using a majestic Broadleaf capa grown in the Connecticut River Valley, a flavorful Brazilian Plantation Grown Mata Fina capote and a tripa blend of bold Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos to produce a medium-bodied smoking experience. Available in 8-count boxes, every Liga Privada Unico Serie Year of the Ox featured two bands—one a slightly different Liga Privada band and the other a purple and gold Year of the Ox band at the foot—with gold foil wrapped around the cigar between the two bands.
Based in Vienna, Austria, Cigar Journal has provided in-depth coverage of the cigar world for more than 20 years. Its international team of writers and editors provide valuable insights regarding the global premium cigar industry, including its yearly Top 25 cigar rankings. In announcing Liga Privada Unico Serie Year of the Ox as the No. 22 cigar in its Top 25 Cigars of 2022 list, Cigar Journal noted, “This cigar in a Maduro wrapper produces huge amounts of smoke and white ash. The subtle fruity sweetness is underscored by pepperiness, nutty and wood aromas, and mineral notes.”
